The Seven Principles of Ocean Literacy

OVERVIEW

Here at EightyOne, we’ve always said we want to change the world. This project is our chance to do just that as we support the United Nations in their efforts to better understand and care for our Ocean.

In partnership with Steve Menzies at Flinch, we based a series of videos on the Seven Principles of Ocean Literacy. These helped launch the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, which runs from 2021 to 2030.

The Ocean is of course incredibly complex, our challenge was to distil each video into a single minded, inspiring narrative. We did this with the help of seven of the world's leading ocean science advocates, from legendary oceanographer Sylvia Earle, to billionaire and philanthropist Ray Dalio.
