Kia ora, talofa lava and welcome to EightyOneX, the sports marketing arm of Wellington’s largest independent creative agency, EightyOne.
We are in a unique space. While we offer traditional agency services across a broad range of industries, it is our experience in sport that sets us apart.
We’re experts in developing communications, commercial strategy, and creative, to amplify sports brands and sponsor relationships. We understand the nuances of working with professional sports teams, athletes, management, and rights holders.
We believe sport has the power to change the world, and we have the power to do it.
We are the commercial rights acquisition partner of Moana Pasifika, who are set to join Super Rugby in 2022. We started a campaign to rename the Basin Reserve to highlight the inequity of women’s sports coverage. Paradoxically, we removed the All Blacks from Nura’s hero sponsorship content to best demonstrate their unique product benefits. We helped the NZ Olympic Committee drive their largest social media engagement to date, countering public indifference to Tokyo 2020. And we’re just getting started.
Her professional career took her to Philadelphia and London with AND1, then to Nuremberg and Amsterdam with adidas as the Global Basketball Sports Marketing Manager. Megan returned home in 2010 to join NZ Rugby, most recently as Head of Commercial Partnerships, responsible for key relationships with brands such as adidas, AIG, Tudor, Air New Zealand, Ford, Iveco, Bulgari and Unicef.
Passionate about sport and on a mission to raise the profile of female athletes, Megan was involved in the campaign to rename Wellington’s famous cricket ground to the “Support Women’s Sport” Basin Reserve. She is a Sky Sports commentator for both the women’s and men’s national basketball leagues and was recently elected to the Basketball New Zealand Board of Directors.
